We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Workshop Foreman to lead our workshop team and oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our vehicle and trailer fleet. This is a key role for someone who combines strong mechanical knowledge with excellent organisational and people-management skills. You will be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while keeping the fleet on the road and workshop operations running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and support workshop technicians.
- Plan and allocate daily workshop jobs and manage workflow.
- Oversee servicing, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance of our fleet vehicles and trailers.
- Diagnose and assist with complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
- Conduct quality checks on completed maintenance items.
- Assist with workshop priorities and parts requirements.
- Liaise with drivers, operations staff and management regarding fleet requirements.
- Ensure workshop records, service histories and job documentation is recorded accurately.
- Ensure compliance with workplace OH&S; requirements and relevant heavy vehicle regulations.
About you
- Proven experience in a heavy vehicle or fleet workshop environment.
- Experience with Cummins engines, Road Ranger gearboxes and Meritor Differentials is highly regarded.
- HVAIS Examiner Qualifications highly regarded.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a workshop team.
- Relevant trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic.
- Robust understanding of preventative maintenance, heavy vehicle and trailer repairs.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise work in a busy workshop environment.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- A strong commitment to safety and quality.
