About the Opportunity

An outstanding opportunity exists for a New Zealand qualified litigation lawyer to relocate to Melbourne and join a high performing General Insurance practice within a leading Australian national law firm.

n

This role is particularly suited to a New Zealand lawyer with experience in civil litigation, public liability, personal injury or related insurance matters who is looking to take the next step in their career in Australia.

n

You will join a nationally recognised insurance practice acting for leading insurers, underwriters and corporate insureds across Australia, with exposure to complex and high value disputes.

n

This is an opportunity to take the litigation skills you have developed in New Zealand and apply them within a larger and highly sophisticated Australian insurance market.

The Work

n

You will work across a broad General Insurance practice, with a particular focus on:

n

- Public liability and general liability claims
n
- Personal injury litigation
n
- Insurance defence litigation
n
- Professional indemnity disputes
n
- Product liability matters
n
- Property damage and third party claims
n
- Coverage and indemnity advice
n

n

The work spans both defence litigation and advisory matters, providing exposure to complex disputes and a sophisticated insurer and corporate client base.

n

What You Will Do

n

n
- Run your own litigated files with support from experienced senior lawyers and Partners
n
- Draft liability, coverage and indemnity advice
n
- Manage disputes through litigation, mediation and resolution
n
- Engage directly with insurers and corporate clients
n
- Develop strong client relationships
n
- Work alongside experienced insurance practitioners on complex and high value matters
n
- Contribute to the continued development of the wider practice
n

What We Are Looking For

n

n
- 3 + years PQE in civil litigation
n
- Experience in insurance, public liability, personal injury,



general liability or related litigation is preferred
n
- Strong drafting and legal analysis skills
n
- Experience managing your own files with appropriate autonomy
n
- Confident client facing communication skills
n
- A genuine interest in developing a long term career in the Australian legal market
n
- New Zealand qualified lawyers are strongly encouraged to apply
n

You do not need to have spent your entire career in insurance. The role would suit a strong civil litigator whose experience is transferable into a General Insurance practice.
