THE ROLE
SVI is recruiting a professional and courteous Receptionist to be the welcoming first point of contact for visitors, staff, students, and external contacts. This is a part-time, ongoing position offering up to approximately 27 hours per week, which may be filled by one person or as a job share between two candidates.
The role is responsible for providing a customer-focused and efficient reception service, while supporting the day-to-day administration and smooth operation of the Institute. This includes managing front desk enquiries and visitor access; coordinating mail, couriers and deliveries; supporting SVI seminars, meetings and events; maintaining shared facilities,
supplies and common areas; and providing general administrative and finance support.
You will help ensure visitors and enquiries are handled professionally, information and deliveries are communicated accurately, and seminars, meetings and other activities are well coordinated. The role also involves maintaining reception procedures, providing clear handovers and supporting the training of relief and casual reception staff to ensure continuity of excellent service.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING
The ideal candidate for the role will have:
- Proven experience in reception, front office or general administrative work, preferably in a research, health, education or not-for-profit environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, courteous and customer-focused attitude.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage information, correspondence and records effectively.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and respond flexibly to a busy and varied workload.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office systems, with experience using intranet, purchasing and invoice processing systems highly regarded.
- Experience coordinating couriers, freight or deliveries would be advantageous, particularly temperature-controlled, dangerous goods or international consignments.
- Experience coordinating seminars, meetings or events, including room bookings, catering and logistics, would be highly regarded.
- Strong judgement and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach to day-to-day issues.
- Current first aid certification, fire warden or emergency warden training (or a willingness to obtain).
To be considered for this role, you must have permanent working rights in Australia. You will also be required to satisfactorily complete a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (National Police Clearance) as a condition of appointment.
SALARY: $68,279-$73,836 per annum (full-time equivalent salary range; the actual salary will be adjusted to reflect the part-time hours of the position), plus 12% superannuation. Salary applied will be dependent upon successful candidates' current level, experience and qualifications. In addition to your base salary, SVI offer up to $15,900 FBT exempt salary packaging and up to $2,650 FBT exempt meals and entertainment packaging.
