In this newly created role, you'll work alongside staff, community members, and partner organisations to remove barriers to participation and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, and older people.

About the Role

As the Priority Communities Officer, you will lead and support initiatives that strengthen inclusion, accessibility, and community participation across Encircle's Housing, Homelessness, Homestay, and Neighbourhood Centre programs.

Working within a strengths-based, culturally safe, and inclusive framework, you will:

- Support the implementation of inclusion, accessibility, and belonging initiatives across services.
- Identify barriers to participation and recommend practical strategies to improve access and engagement.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with community groups, representative organisations, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate community consultation and engagement activities.
- Support organisational priorities,



including Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) implementation, Rainbow Accreditation, disability inclusion, and multicultural engagement initiatives.
- Develop resources, tools, and learning opportunities that strengthen inclusive practice.
- Support staff capability through training, coaching, and practical guidance.
- Participate in community networks, forums, and events.
- Maintain project records, action plans, reporting, and evaluation requirements.

About You

You are a relationship builder who is passionate about equality, inclusion, and creating communities where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and connected.

You will bring:

- A degree qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- Experience working with diverse communities and promoting inclusive practice.
- Experience in community engagement, community development, advocacy, project work, or social inclusion initiatives.
- Experience building partnerships and collaborating across community and service sectors.
- Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and cultural safety principles.
- Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD communities,



people with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, and other priority groups.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Experience facilitating community consultations, training, or engagement activities.
- Strong written communication, reporting, and project coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and organisational data systems.
- A commitment to social justice, human rights, and inclusive practice.

Mandatory Requirements

- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- Current Blue Card or ability to obtain.
- Current National Police Check or ability to obtain.
- Full working rights within Australia.
