Bowen Rail Company has an exciting prospect for an Operations Superintendent (Training) to join our Rail Operations team. If you've built your career in rail, mining or heavy industry and are ready for your next challenge, this role is a great fit.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Operations Superintendent (Training) owns the framework that supports the development, qualification and ongoing Verification of Competency of Train Drivers, Trainee Train Drivers, Maintenance Personnel and BRC Operations support roles. Critical to the safe and efficient delivery of train services is the deployment of qualified and competent rail traffic crew — and this role is where that begins.

This position is based residentially in Bowen, working Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safety leadership — set the standard for safety at Bowen Rail Company, demonstrating visible safety leadership in line with our values
- Training governance — facilitate the implementation and review of Rail Operations training documentation, including standards, procedures and instructions, to ensure company and legislative compliance
- Continuous improvement — drive improvement initiatives in training and compliance against safety, competency and compliance requirements across rail operations
- Competency framework — maintain and continually improve the Training and Competency Matrix and Training Needs Analysis to meet performance KPIs for the progression of the Rail Operations team
- Leading people — mentor, coach and support direct reports and operations-qualified Trainers and Assessors
- RTO and external providers — manage the delivery of external training services, including the Registered Training Organisation, covering schedules,



training programs and contract management
- Trainee Train Driver program — develop and implement the Trainee Train Driver program in conjunction with the RTO, ensuring the training and assessment program is effectively delivered and managed
- OJT/OJA capability — onboard, mentor and coach On the Job Trainers and On the Job Assessors, support operational training programs and monitor the effectiveness of existing training systems and procedures
- Investigations — conduct allocated investigations in a timely manner, delivering appropriate outcomes through accurate written reports to support management determinations

Should you ASPIRE to join our team, you will bring:

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Leadership experience in rail, mining or heavy industry
- Excellent oral and written communication and professional presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a track record of building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Effective time management, organisation and the ability to multi-task, with advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and systems)
- Current open Class C driver's licence
