The purpose of the role is to provide epidemiological support in the PHI Branch, which includes providing high level epidemiological advice and technical support within Queensland Health and key partner organisations on communicable disease interventions and research and undertaking high level communicable disease epidemiology, surveillance, and research, for notifiable conditions.

Your key responsibilities:

- Provide high level epidemiological support and advice for communicable disease, chronic disease and preventive health epidemiology, surveillance and research using a variety of information sources.
- Support the development of recommendations to executive and senior management, and other stakeholders for epidemiology and research, aimed at contributing to evidence-based practice and enhancing clinical and population health outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of high-priority analytical outputs and surveillance dashboards.
- Provide high level written and oral reports and presentations on preventive health, chronic disease and communicable disease epidemiology to support the development and communication of public health intelligence and data.

Role fit

The essential requirements for this role are:

- Demonstrated application of high-level knowledge, expertise and skill in epidemiology including proficiency in statistical software such as R, Stata and SQL.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills to produce oral and written presentations and maintain collaborations with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively initiate and coordinate epidemiology projects including quality improvement activities within resource constraints.
- Demonstrated high level ability to review,



critically appraise and translate epidemiological data and literature into information that public health practitioners, policy makers, other clinicians and the public can understand and use.
