The Role
The Family Violence Practice Lead provides specialist family violence practice leadership, consultation and support across Wathaurong programs. The role strengthens safe, culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, children, young people and families experiencing or impacted by family violence. The position supports staff to identify, assess and respond to family violence risk, promote safety planning, strengthen referral pathways and contribute to quality practice, service improvement and compliance with relevant family violence frameworks.
About You

Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services, family violence, psychology, counselling or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Demonstrated specialist family violence practice experience, including risk assessment, risk management, safety planning, information sharing and referral pathways.
Strong understanding of the nature, dynamics and impacts of family violence, including impacts on children,
young people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Knowledge of MARAM, information sharing schemes and relevant Victorian family violence reforms and practice expectations.
Ability to provide practice leadership, secondary consultation, coaching, reflective practice and support to staff.
Knowledge of protected and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economic and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.
Understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
- Experience working in or alongside specialist family violence, victim assistance, justice, child and family or therapeutic support services.
- A police check, Working with Children Check, Vaccination Certificate and current Driver Licence are required for all positions.
