The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day production activities of the workshop to ensure vehicle repairs are completed safely, efficiently, correctly and within agreed timeframes. The role provides the critical link between the office, estimating, parts and workshop teams, ensuring technicians have the information, parts and resources required to complete repairs without unnecessary delays. The Production Manager is expected to maintain visibility over every vehicle in production, identify problems before they affect delivery dates and take ownership of keeping work progressing through each stage of the repair process.

Key responsibilities

- Plan and coordinate the daily production schedule across the workshop
- Allocate work to technicians based on skill level, workload, repair requirements and available capacity
- Monitor vehicles throughout each stage of the repair process
- Ensure repair plans and job instructions are understood before work commences
- Conduct regular workshop walk-throughs and actively monitor job progress
- Identify vehicles that have stalled or are at risk of missing their expected completion date
- Reallocate labour and resources where necessary to maintain workflow




- Review upcoming jobs before vehicles enter production and ensure repair methods, parts requirements and sublet work have been identified
- Work closely with the Parts Department to ensure parts are ordered and received in line with scheduled repairs
- Provide daily direction to panel beaters, painters, assemblers, detailers and other production employees

About you

- Minimum 3 years in a similar role - Workshop Manager, Production Manager, Workshop Controller, Leading Hand or similar
- Strong experience within the collision repair / smash repair industry
- Robust computer confidence. Experience with iBodyshop/Audanet/PartsCheck is essential.
- Excellent understanding of vehicle repair processes from initial strip through to final delivery
- Ability to manage multiple vehicles and competing priorities simultaneously
- Strong people-management and communication skills
- Ability to identify production bottlenecks and take corrective action
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Trade background in panel beating, vehicle painting or another automotive repair
