We are supporting our client in the landscape architecture sector with the appointment of a newly created Commercial Lead position within their Sydney studio.

This role sits at the intersection of project delivery and commercial management, with responsibility for improving project performance, commercial outcomes and operational effectiveness across the business.

Acting as a trusted adviser to Studio Directors and Project Leaders, the successful candidate will help bridge the gap between strategy and day-to-day project delivery, ensuring projects are commercially sound, well-governed and positioned for sustainable growth.

This is a senior leadership prospect, equivalent to a Senior Associate level position, offering significant influence across project, commercial and operational decision-making.

Provide commercial oversight across the studio, monitoring project performance, profitability and financial outcomes.

Lead project forecasting, reporting and performance analysis to support informed decision-making.

Review contracts, identify commercial risks and provide advice to project leaders and senior stakeholders.

Support tender submissions, fee proposals and commercial negotiations.

Drive project governance, compliance and risk management processes.

Partner with Studio Directors and Project Leaders to improve project delivery outcomes.

Oversee resource planning and workforce forecasting to support sustainable growth.

Strengthen relationships with clients, consultants and key project stakeholders.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across project, commercial and operational processes.





Coach and mentor Project Leaders and senior team members to improve commercial capability across the studio.

Champion compliance, quality assurance and operational governance standards.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a Commercial Manager, Operations Manager, Practice Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Controls Manager or similar leadership role.

Experience within architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, engineering or construction

Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financial performance, forecasting and reporting.

Demonstrated contract management, commercial negotiation and risk management capability.

Ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Analytical and solutions-focused approach to problem solving and decision-making.

Experience supporting leadership teams and driving business performance improvements.

Ability to balance commercial outcomes with project delivery and operational priorities.

Experience coaching project teams and uplifting commercial capability across a business.

Ideal Profile

The strongest candidates will come from either a project delivery or commercial operations background within the architecture and design sector. You will be able to successfully bridge project performance, commercial outcomes and studio operations. You'll be comfortable partnering with creative and technical professionals while driving accountability, governance and commercial success across the studio.
