Welder / Fabricator – Steel Manufacturing

Bird Dog Fabrications is an Australian steel manufacturing business based in Carrum Downs, specialising in the manufacture of steel screw piles and associated components for the construction industry.

We manufacture products used across residential, commercial and civil construction projects throughout Victoria.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join our manufacturing team.

This is a full-time, factory-based role, Monday to Friday, afternoon shift, offering stable and ongoing employment in a well-equipped manufacturing facility.

The Role

Your primary role will be welding and fabrication; however, as part of our manufacturing team, you may also be involved in operating and assisting with other machinery and production processes within the factory.

Your responsibilities may include:

- MIG welding steel screw piles and associated components
- Welding helices and fabricated steel components
- Preparing, positioning and fitting components for welding
- Reading and working from drawings, measurements and production specifications
- Checking completed work for quality and accuracy
- Operating or assisting with CNC laser cutting equipment
- Operating hydraulic presses and forming equipment
- Operating saws, grinders, drills and other workshop machinery
- Material handling and movement of steel products
- General fabrication and manufacturing duties
- Working efficiently to meet production requirements
- Carrying out basic equipment checks and housekeeping
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
- Following company quality, safety and environmental procedures

Training can be provided on specific machinery and manufacturing processes where required.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

- Has previous MIG welding and/or steel fabrication experience
- Can produce consistent, high-quality welds
- Is comfortable working with structural and heavy steel components
- Has experience with,



or is willing to learn, other manufacturing machinery
- Can accurately measure and follow drawings and instructions
- Takes pride in their workmanship
- Is reliable and punctual with a good work ethic
- Is willing to help across different areas of production when required
- Can work independently as well as part of a team
- Has a strong focus on workplace safety
- Is looking for secure, long-term employment

Experience in steel manufacturing, structural steel, CNC machinery, hydraulic presses or other production equipment would be highly regarded but is not essential.
