Principal Consultant - Ancillary Operations

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Principal Consultant - Ancillary Operations to join our team, working directly with clients across a range of commodities on a range of interim placement and operational improvement initiatives focused on ancillary equipment fleet operations. This is a consulting role, not a permanent site position - you'll be engaged on assignments with clients across Australia, stepping into interim leadership roles at superintendent level as required.

This role suits an experienced Superintendent looking to make the switch from an operational leadership role into consulting, or an existing consultant, bringing genuine site-based ancillary fleet operations experience into a client advisory setting.

What You'll Be Doing

- Stepping into interim Superintendent (or equivalent) roles at client sites, providing immediate operational leadership and continuity
- Diagnosing ancillary fleet utilisation, productivity and operational performance issues across dozers, graders, water carts, service trucks, light vehicles and other ancillary equipment
- Supporting the design and rollout of operational improvement initiatives, fleet utilisation strategies, and productivity programs across ancillary and support equipment operations
- Advising clients on frontline supervisor and operator development, site leadership programs and supervisory transition initiatives
- Leading or supporting operating model reviews, including coordination between ancillary operations, maintenance and mine planning functions, and comparisons of owner-operator versus contracted ancillary fleet crewing models
- Building strong working relationships with client stakeholders,



from frontline supervisors and operators through to mining, maintenance, technical services and executive leadership
- Travelling to client sites across a range of commodities and regions to deliver hands‑on support, assessments and interim leadership coverage
- Preparing client‑ready reports, findings and recommendations that translate site-level operational insights into practical, actionable improvement plans
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of Xenco's operational consulting methodologies, tools and frameworks

What We’re Looking For

- Proven experience at Superintendent level (Ancillary Superintendent, Mining Superintendent or similar) within an open pit mining, resources or heavy industrial environment, genuine site-based operational leadership experience is essential
- Robust generalist capability across ancillary fleet operations, equipment availability coordination with maintenance teams, KPI and budget management, and operational planning
- Comfortable stepping into interim leadership positions and operating as an external advisor, building trust and credibility quickly with client stakeholders
- A strong consulting mindset, with the ability to diagnose problems, structure practical solutions and deliver hands‑on implementation support
- Willingness and ability to travel to client sites as required, including extended interim placements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise and influence senior leaders
- Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously across multiple concurrent client engagements
