Senior Strategic Underground Project Engineer

This role will provide technical leadership in the optimization, simulation, planning and evaluation of complex underground caving projects, with a strong focus on Block Caving (BC) and Sub-Level Caving (SLC). You will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from Concept and Scoping through to Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility and Long-Term Mine Planning, helping develop integrated technical and financial solutions that support long-term business growth.

Key responsibilities

n

Lead underground caving optimization, design, scheduling and simulation.

n

Develop integrated technical and financial models to support strategic decisions.

n

Prepare technical reports, investment studies and Life-of-Mine plans.

n

Collaborate with Geology, Exploration and multidisciplinary teams to assess underground opportunities.

n

Evaluate emerging mining technologies, automation and digital solutions.

n

Support strategic initiatives, technical evaluations, due diligence and long-term growth opportunities.

n

Provide technical leadership, mentoring and capability development to engineers.

n

About you

n

Degree in Mining Engineering with at least 8 years' mining industry experience, including 5+ years' specialist experience in underground caving optimization and simulation (BC/SLC).

n

Demonstrated experience delivering Concept, Scoping, Pre-Feasibility and Long-Term Mine Planning studies.

n

Advanced proficiency in PCBC/PCSLC and Isight.

n

Experience with Whittle, Surpac, Vulcan, CPLEX, Python, MATLAB, SQL Server or TCL will be highly regarded.

n

Strong understanding of underground mining systems, infrastructure, ventilation, dewatering, geotechnical engineering,



mining services, automation and digital technologies.

n

Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen, including technical and financial evaluation modelling.

n

Strong communication, analytical and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to technical teams and senior stakeholders.

n

Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.

n

A creative, proactive and innovative approach to improving project performance.
