About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Financial Officer is a key member of UniSQ’s senior leadership team and a trusted adviser to the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive, University Council and its committees.

This broad and influential position leads Finance, Procurement and Business Services, with responsibility for strengthening UniSQ’s financial sustainability, organisational performance and capacity to invest in its future. The CFO will bring a strategic and commercial perspective to institutional planning while ensuring the effective stewardship of the University’s financial resources.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading financial strategy, planning,



forecasting and resource allocation to support UniSQ’s long-term priorities.
- Providing high-quality financial and commercial advice on major investments, partnerships and strategic opportunities.
- Overseeing financial governance, statutory reporting, treasury, taxation, compliance, controls and risk management.
- Leading strategic procurement, business services and business solutions to improve value, efficiency and service delivery.
- Driving process improvement, digital transformation and innovation across the portfolio.
- Developing a capable, collaborative and service oriented team that contributes proactively across the University.

The role may be based at UniSQ’s Ipswich, Springfield or Toowoomba campus, with travel between locations as required.

About You

You will be an accomplished and contemporary financial executive with experience leading a broad finance function within a large and complex organisation. Commercially astute and strategically minded, you will have the judgement to balance financial sustainability,



responsible governance and organisational ambition.

You will bring:

- Significant executive-level experience across financial management, planning, governance, compliance and reporting.
- A strong record of advising senior executives, boards or governing bodies on complex financial and commercial matters.
- Experience leading procurement, business services, business partnering or enterprise transformation functions.
- The ability to evaluate investments and opportunities through rigorous commercial analysis and risk assessment.
- Demonstrated success delivering technology enabled improvement, service optimisation and organisational change.
- A collaborative and influential leadership style, supported by the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
- A commitment to developing high-performing teams and creating a culture of accountability, innovation and service excellence.

Postgraduate qualifications in accounting, finance, commerce, business or a related discipline are expected, together with current CA or CPA membership or an equivalent internationally recognised skilled accounting designation. Importantly, you will demonstrate strong alignment with UniSQ’s values of Respect, Integrity and Excellence.
