Construction & Project Delivery | Architectural & Turnkey Projects

iFab Steel is looking for an experienced construction leader to take ownership of the planning, coordination and delivery of our site operations across complex architectural and turnkey projects.

This is not simply a steel installation role — and it's not a desk-based management position either.

We're looking for someone who understands construction, knows how to lead tradespeople and subcontractors, plans ahead, solves problems and takes pride in seeing difficult projects delivered properly.

Someone who can lead from the front and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty when the situation calls for it — but understands that their primary responsibility is making the whole team successful, not being another full-time pair of hands.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Steel fabrication is at the core of iFab, but what we deliver extends considerably further.

Our projects can incorporate feature staircases, balustrades, glazing, specialist finishes, cladding, timber, decorative elements, temporary works, lifting systems and other specialist subcontract scopes.

The Installations Manager is responsible for coordinating the complete site delivery of whatever iFab has contracted to provide.

You will work across multiple projects, looking ahead of our crews to make sure the site is ready, information is resolved, materials are available, labour is allocated, access and lifting are planned and everyone understands how the work is going to be executed.

Once work starts, you remain connected to the site.

You'll support supervisors and crews, inspect upcoming conditions, solve problems, coordinate with builders and other trades, monitor progress and step in when a project needs leadership.

We don't want a manager who only sees the project through reports.

Equally, we don't want the Installations Manager permanently tied up performing work that should be delivered by the team.

Your job is to build, plan and lead a high-performing installation function.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Leading installation crews, supervisors, subcontractors and specialist trades

Forward planning labour and resources across multiple projects

Developing installation methodologies and construction sequencing

Reviewing drawings, models and upcoming works for constructability

Confirming site readiness before committing labour

Planning access, cranes, rigging, EWPs, scaffold, temporary works and logistics

Coordinating deliveries, material handling and installation sequence

Programming works with Project Managers, builders and internal departments

Coordinating specialist trades within our turnkey packages

Monitoring productivity, quality and progress against programme





Identifying constraints before they become site delays

Developing recovery plans when projects move off programme

Maintaining clear communication between site, project management, design and production

Driving QA, defects, completion and handover

Developing our supervisors, installers and subcontractor network

Improving the systems and standards behind how iFab delivers work on site

THE PERSON WE WANT

Your original trade is less important than the construction capability you've developed since.

You could come from architectural metalwork, structural steel, commercial construction, fitout, façades, glazing, architectural joinery, rigging, mechanical installation or another technically demanding construction background.

What matters is that you understand how construction works.

You should naturally be thinking:

Is the site actually ready?

How are we getting this into position?

What needs to happen first?

What information is still missing?

What labour and equipment do we need?

What are we relying on other trades to complete?

Where is this programme going to come unstuck?

What can we resolve today instead of discovering it with six people standing on site tomorrow?

We want someone who can look several weeks ahead while still understanding what's happening on site today.

LEAD FROM THE FRONT

We believe good construction leaders need credibility with the people they're leading.

That doesn't come from sitting behind a desk.

There will be times when we expect you to put the boots on, get onto site, inspect the work, help establish a difficult methodology, demonstrate what's required or work alongside the team to get through a critical situation.

You should be prepared to get your hands dirty.

But leadership by example doesn't mean doing everyone's job for them.

The strongest person for this role will know when to step in, when to teach, when to delegate and when to hold someone accountable.

Your success will ultimately be measured by the capability and performance of the team you lead.

WE LIKE DIFFICULT PROJECTS

Much of our work isn't repetitive.

We deliver curved and helical staircases, bespoke architectural features, complex geometry, specialist finishes, tight tolerances and projects where the installation methodology needs to be developed specifically for the job.





Sometimes the answer isn't sitting on a drawing.

You need to enjoy bringing together site experience, design, engineering, fabrication and practical problem-solving to work out how we're actually going to build it.

If complexity frustrates you, this probably isn't the role.

If it makes you want to understand the problem, get the right people around a table and work out a better way to execute it, you'll fit much better.

TECHNOLOGY IS PART OF THE JOB

We're actively building a more technology-driven construction business.

We use 3D models, digital drawings, cloud-based project systems, structured QA, mobile reporting and increasingly AI-assisted workflows.

You don't need to be a technology expert.

You do need to be curious and willing to learn.

We want someone who sees value in better information, better systems and better planning — not someone determined to manage an increasingly complex operation through phone calls and memory.
