As a Senior Medical Officer (SMO), you will work alongside expert Emergency Physicians and Advanced Practice Emergency Nurse Practitioners in modern, walk-in emergency facilities designed for agile, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Deliver high-quality clinical assessments, investigation interpretations, and management plans according to the Australasian Triage Scale.
n
- Perform acute emergency bedside procedures and stabilize patients requiring escalation or retrieval via Ambulance Victoria and PIPER.
n
- Supervise, mentor, and teach Junior Medical Officers, HMOs, and visiting medical students.
n
- Partner seamlessly with local General Practitioners and community health agencies for sustainable post-discharge care.
n
- Champion National Emergency Access Targets (NEAT) and proactive clinical quality improvement across both urgent care campuses.

What You Bring

n

n
- Medical Registration: Current, unconditional registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
n
- Experience Baseline: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a Registrar or Senior HMO role, OR a minimum of five (5) years' post-graduate experience (including at least two years within an Australian hospital network).
n
- Emergency Competence: Prior acute Emergency Department experience (minimum 6 months) and current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
n
- Leadership & Teaching: Proven clinical judgment, mature communication, and an enthusiasm for teaching early-career clinicians.
n
- Desirable: Enrolment in or completion of the ACEM Associateship Program, or recognized general practice/rural generalist pathway standing.
