12-Month Role | Hybrid Working (3 days in office, 2 WFH)

Shape how one of the fastest growing parts of Sydney moves. Canterbury Bankstown Council is looking for a Transport Planner to join the City Plan and Transformation team on a 12-month contract, working on some of the most significant transport initiatives in the region.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Urban Policy and Planning, you'll play a key role in shaping the Council's transport strategy at a time of major change for the city. This will include the Southwest Metro and the new Bankstown Hospital precinct.

You'll take the lead on:

- Researching and developing the Council's Transport Strategic Plan
- Researching and developing a Parking Management Plan
- Preparing advocacy positions and submissions in response to Transport for NSW reforms
- Representing Council at internal and external forums on transport matters tied to state-significant projects
- Delivering on the Active Transport Action Plan, supporting a Complete Streets approach across town centres, and other strategic transport initiatives
- Preparing discussion papers,



feasibility studies and high-quality reports for Council and external stakeholders
- Engaging and consulting with the local community on transport needs and priorities

About you

- Tertiary qualification in urban planning, transport planning, land use planning or a related discipline
- Extensive knowledge of strategic transport planning practice, ideally gained in a large, complex organisation
- Demonstrated experience in consultation, research, data analysis and strategy development
- A track record of producing high-quality strategic and operational plans and reports
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Current Class C's driver's licence
- Local government experience highly regarded, though not essential
