The Opportunity

The Children’s Diabetes Centre of The Kids Research InstituteAustralia, together with the Diabetes Service of Perth Children’s Hospital, isan integrated research and clinical centre. The key focus of our work is toimprove the health of children, adolescents and young people living with type 1diabetes and we are now looking for a motivated Research Assistant to join us.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be fundamental inproviding research support and helping to ensure the efficient runningofclinical research studies.

This will involve duties, such as:

- Assisting with recruitment and consent of eligible study participants.
- Handling and processing biological samples.
- Creation and maintenance of databases.
- Collection of study related data.
- Contributing to the analysis of study data.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, writing papers and presentations.

This is a varied role and a great opportunity to gainhands-on experience in a research environment, working alongside and learningfrom an experienced research team around you.

Based within Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this full-timeposition will be offered for an initial 12-month period. Part-time (0.6 FTE – 0.8FTE) will be considered for the right candidate.

About You

The idealcandidate will hold a Bachelor of Science or biomedical science and will havean interest in diabetes research coupled with great people skills andexperience in a research environment.

The key to yoursuccess will be your demonstrated skills and experience in:

- Knowledge and experience in the use of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office suite.




- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience in data analysis and database management.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people both internally and externally.
- Previous experience in participant recruitment will be highly regarded but is not essential for this role.
