An established business operating across the residential construction and renewable energy sector is seeking a Solar Layout Drafter / Estimating Support professional to join its team on an immediate temporary basis.
This is a high-volume, process-driven role supporting residential new-build projects. You’ll review building plans, prepare straightforward solar panel layouts and assist with estimating, quotations and material requirements.
You do not need to be a solar engineer or highly technical system designer. Training will be provided on the company’s internal automated design system and solar-specific processes.

An established business operating across the residential construction and renewable energy sector is seeking a Solar Layout Drafter / Estimating Support professional to join its team on an immediate temporary basis.
This is a high-volume, process-driven role supporting residential new-build projects. You’ll review building plans, prepare straightforward solar panel layouts and assist with estimating, quotations and material requirements.

The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing residential building and roof plans.
- Identifying suitable roof areas for solar panel placement.
- Preparing simple solar panel layouts using an automated design system.
- Producing drawings to support quoting, ordering and installation planning.
- Assisting with customer quotations and estimates.
- Completing material take-offs and calculating material requirements.
- Preparing material orders.
- Updating internal estimating and job-management systems.
- Managing a high volume of jobs while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
About You
Direct solar experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience across areas such as:
- Residential drafting or architectural documentation.
- Volume-home estimating.
- Construction administration.
- Solar drafting or estimating.
- Reading residential building, architectural or roof plans.
- Preparing quotations, take-offs or material schedules.
You’ll ideally have strong computer skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently within structured systems and processes.
If you can confidently interpret residential plans and have experience working in drafting, estimating or construction support, the solar-specific elements can be taught.
