Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join our team, specialising in the fabrication of mild steel frames and structural components.

About the Role

n

The successful applicant will be responsible for measuring, cutting, fitting and welding mild steel frames to a high standard. You must have a strong understanding of fabrication techniques and be able to produce accurate, square and dimensionally correct frames.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Fabricate mild steel frames from drawings and measurements
n
- Read and understand fabrication drawings
n
- Measure, mark, cut and prepare steel accurately
n
- Set up and tack assemblies before welding
n
- MIG welding of mild steel components
n
- Ensure frames are square, aligned and within required tolerances
n
- Understand welding distortion and how to prevent or minimise it
n
- Use appropriate welding sequences and balanced welding techniques
n
- Understand and apply frame fixing and straightening techniques
n




- Identify distortion during fabrication and correct it using suitable methods
n
- Use clamps, jigs, strong backs, wedges and other suitable fabrication tools
n
- Perform heat-straightening where appropriate and safe
n
- Grind, clean and finish welds as required
n
- Inspect completed work for quality and dimensional accuracy
n
- Maintain a clean and secure work area
n

An advantage would be experience in Aluminium fabrication/ mig and tig welding
