Some HR roles keep you in one business. This opportunity gives you the chance to become part of many.
We're a people and culture consultancy supporting organisations across Australia, partnering with Small to Medium Enterprises (SME’s) across a diverse range of industries. Our clients rely on us for practical, commercially focused advice across everyday people matters, complex workplace issues and broader HR projects.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced HR generalist who enjoys pace, variety and solving real workplace issues. You will work directly with business owners and managers, providing clear advice and seeing matters through from issue to outcome.
This is not an executive or Head of HR position. It is best suited to an experienced HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or standalone generalist who wants to stay close to the work, broaden their exposure and take the next step in their career.
The Role
You will manage a portfolio of clients and become a trusted extension of their teams. Your work will be varied and often time-sensitive, so you will need to quickly understand the issue, identify the risk and provide a clear, practical way forward.
What you’ll do
Advise with confidence: Provide practical, commercially focused advice across the entire employee lifecycle, including performance, conduct, grievances, workplace complaints, leave, restructures and day-to-day people matters.
Lead ER and IR matters: Guide managers through complex and sensitive employee relations and industrial relations issues, including preparing correspondence, meeting scripts and clear next steps.
Foster client relationships: Build trust quickly, understand each client’s business and become a trusted partner who follows through and delivers.
Manage varied work: Balance multiple clients, projects and priorities while maintaining quality, responsiveness and momentum.
Strengthen workplaces: Identify opportunities for improvement and deliver practical people, culture and compliance solutions that create meaningful outcomes for clients.
Use technology well: Learn systems quickly, remember what you are shown and look for smarter, more efficient ways of working and most importantly be an AI convert.
Collaborate generously: Share knowledge, ask for input and draw on the expertise of colleagues to achieve the best outcome.
What You Bring
You are an experienced HR generalist who enjoys solving problems, building trusted relationships and helping managers move forward with confidence. You can quickly understand a business and its people’s challenges, identify the key risks and provide explicit advice that works in practice. You bring sound judgement, strong interpersonal awareness, ability to build credibility and a genuine commitment to the clients you support.
Strong advisory capability: You can work through complexity, explain risk clearly and provide practical options rather than theory.
Solid ER capability: You have independently advised managers through performance, conduct, grievances, complaints or other sensitive employee matters. You can identify risk, recommend a practical approach,
prepare the required documentation and support the matter through to resolution.
Consulting or account management experience: You are comfortable managing relationships, expectations, competing priorities and delivery across multiple clients.
Solid generalist expertise: You have worked in a fast-paced, changing, operational or multi-site environment and are comfortable moving between strategic context and practical delivery.
High EQ: You read the situation, adapt your approach and communicate with care, confidence and good judgement.
Results focused: You take ownership, maintain momentum and care about the quality and impact of your work.
Client invested: You become genuinely interested in each client’s business and are dedicated to helping the client succeed.
Tech savvy and quick to learn: You pick up systems and processes quickly, retain information and look for opportunities to improve how work gets done.
Self-aware and curious: You are confident in your expertise, honest when you do not know something and willing to learn or lean on others.
Open to feedback: You welcome different perspectives and use feedback to strengthen your work.
Broad perspective: You bring experience across different organisations, industries or workforce environments and value diverse ways of thinking.
