The Trades assistant role is essentially a hands on role.
n
Located in Geelong, this position will provide cleaning and maintenance to machinery used in the unloading of bulk vessels at the Geelong Port.
n
Ensuring all machinery, namely, Grabs, Hoppers, Tractors, forklifts, Generators, service vehicles, etc. are cleaned and serviced at all times in accordance with the high company standards.
n
Rotating on call roster when vessels are being unloaded.
n
Please note, this role requires a current driver's licence.
n
Applicants hourly ratewill be determined based on Skills, Qualifications and experience.
n
Duties:
n
n
- Cleaning Machines at the workshop.
n
- When rostered, being on call when required to provide support to all vessels using Stevens equipment.
n
- Lubricating and cleaning equipment.
n
- Carry out minor repairs when required
n
- Preventative Maintenance.
n
- washing down of machinery between vessels
n
- servicing between and during shipping operations,refuelling, servicing hydraulic systems and diesel motors(dependent on applicants previous experience)
n
- Setting up Machinery for operations.
n
- liaising with staff and contractors in the port.
n
- load / unload machinery from truck
n
n
Essential qualities for the role include:
n
n
- Have a strong work ethic and are self-motivated
n
- Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience preferred.
n
- Valuable computer knowledge
n
- Able to work a rotating on call roster when vessels are in port.
n
- Forklift and EWP licence helpful but not a requirement.
n
- Can multi task and enjoy being part of a team
n
- Ability to work unsupervised
n
- Flexible to work weekends and out of hours when ships are working.
n
- Requires Police checks for MSIC card
n
n
Qualification / Experience:
n
n
- Have good oralcommunication skills
n
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol check at all times.
n
- Ability to travel (infrequently)
n
- Professional and positive attitude
n
- Ability to demonstrate alevel of analytical and problem solving skills.
n
- Physically fit and able to do manual work
n
