Technical Field Engineer
Cairns, QLD
The Opportunity

As a Technical Field Engineer, you'll be the person who keeps customer technology running by providing onsite support, troubleshooting hardware issues, and performing repairs across laptops, desktops, and related IT equipment. You'll travel throughout the Cairns region, supporting customers directly and ensuring service commitments are met.
This role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise with customer interaction, giving you exposure to a variety of technologies, environments, and hardware platforms while developing your field services experience.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair laptops, desktops, and related IT hardware.
- Replace field-serviceable components including motherboards, screens, keyboards, batteries, SSDs, and memory.
- Perform hardware diagnostics, BIOS updates, firmware upgrades, testing, and validation activities.
- Manage assigned service requests, schedules, travel requirements, and parts inventory efficiently.
- Complete service documentation accurately and on time.
- Deliver professional onsite support while maintaining a positive customer experience.
- Collaborate with customers, service delivery teams, and technical support groups.
- Follow customer-specific procedures, safety requirements, and service level commitments.
- Meet SLA targets while maintaining service quality and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Bring
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.
- Technical certification, Associate Degree, or relevant vocational training preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in hardware repair, field services, desktop support, or technical support environments.
- Solid troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Experience replacing hardware components, including motherboards, screens, batteries, keyboards, SSDs, and memory modules.
- Good understanding of Windows operating systems and desktop computing environments.
- Experience with Dell, Lenovo, or other major OEM hardware platforms is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service requests.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and willingness to travel throughout the Cairns region.
- OEM or manufacturer certifications are advantageous.
