The Secure Gateway Services team is responsible for delivering and operating Secure Internet Gateway services that protect the Department and multiple Commonwealth agencies. The team manages a broad range of network and cyber security technologies to ensure government systems remain secure, reliable and resilient.

About the role

n

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Gateway / Network Security Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Secure Gateway Services, you will play a key role in the operation, enhancement and ongoing evolution of the department's Secure Internet Gateway workplace.

Key responsibilities include:

- Designing, managing and maintaining gateway infrastructure and security services.
n
- Leading technical projects,



upgrades and service improvement initiatives.
n
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical incidents and changes.
n
- Managing technologies including web proxies, email security, DNS, firewalls, WAF, load balancing and related security platforms.
n
- Mentoring junior staff and providing technical advice to stakeholders.
n
- Contributing to the ongoing security, reliability and modernisation of Gateway services.

About you

n

You are an experienced network or security engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and taking ownership of outcomes. You have strong troubleshooting skills, can communicate technical concepts effectively and enjoy working collaboratively to deliver secure and reliable services. Experience with enterprise networking, security technologies, cloud platforms, scripting or automation will be highly regarded.
