An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Data Science & AI Engineering Manager to join a large, well-known retail organisation and lead a multidisciplinary team delivering enterprise-scale Data and AI solutions. Leading a team of approximately 20 people, you'll bring strong technical leadership across AI/ML, Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering and DevOps, while ensuring solutions deliver measurable business value.

What you'll be doing

n

n
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers and QA specialists.
n
- Own the successful delivery of AI, machine learning and data solutions across scope, budget, quality and timelines.
n
- Provide technical leadership across the design and development of scalable, production-ready AI/ML and data platforms.
n
- Partner closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders to translate business problems into practical Data & AI solutions.
n
- Establish and uplift engineering standards across software development, data engineering and ML model development.
n
- Drive modern DevOps, CI/CD, automation, testing and QA practices to improve delivery speed and reliability.
n
- Ensure production AI and data solutions are secure, reliable, well-governed and meeting agreed SLAs.
n
- Build a strong engineering culture focused on experimentation, innovation and continuous improvement.
n
- Mentor and develop team members,



creating transparent career pathways and building future technical leaders.
n
- Stay across emerging AI and data technologies and help shape the organisation's future technology roadmap.

What we're looking for

n

n
- Proven experience leading a large, multidisciplinary technical team, ideally 15-20+ people.
n
- Strong technical background spanning AI/ML, Data Science, Data Engineering and Software Engineering.
n
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
n
- Experience delivering complex AI and data solutions into production within a large enterprise environment.
n
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical leadership, people leadership and delivery management.
n
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across Product, Technology and senior business stakeholders.
n
- Experience building high-performing teams and developing engineering capability.
n
- Retail or similarly large-scale, data-rich enterprise experience would be highly regarded.
n
