Emergency Relief Coordinator

Location: Toowoomba, QLD

This role requires travel to surrounding areas

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time

Salary: $80k per annum + NFP Salary Packaging ($15,900 per FBT in General Living Expenses; $2,650 per FBT in Meal Entertainment) + 12% Super

About the Role

As the Emergency Relief Coordinator, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of Lifeline Darling Downs’ emergency relief program, supporting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. You’ll provide immediate assistance, ensure fair and transparent decision-making, and connect people with ongoing supports — all while maintaining strong community partnerships and high-quality reporting. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and can confidently balance frontline support with compliance, administration, and stakeholder engagement. Flexible hours may be required at times to meet program needs.

Key Responsibilities

Emergency Relief Coordination

- Respond to referrals from agencies, community organisations, and self-referrals.
- Assess eligibility and deliver support in line with Commonwealth ER Guidelines.




- Provide material aid such as food/fuel vouchers and essential household items.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, supports, and funding allocations.
- Ensure fair, confidential, and respectful client interactions.
- Liaise with finance/reporting teams to meet audit and compliance requirements.

Partnerships & Community Engagement

- Build strong relationships with local services and referral partners.
- Attend outreach events and stakeholder meetings to promote financial wellbeing supports.
- Contribute to financial literacy resources tailored to local and rural communities.

Administration & Reporting

- Maintain detailed case notes and client records aligned with privacy requirements.
- Prepare timely reports and data entries for contractual and organisational needs.
- Document and reconcile all ER distributions and expenditures.
- Support program evaluation and continuous improvement activities.

Professional Practice

- Uphold trauma-informed, culturally secure, client-centred practice.
- Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and professional development.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to planning.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required (with negotiation).

This is a role that at times involves additional work outside of office hours to fulfil the duties of the position.



(Flexible working hours may be negotiated with the Line Manager).

About You

Desirable

- Relevant qualifications- Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Financial Capability, or similar.
- Cultural capability- experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples or CALD communities.
- ER program knowledge -familiarity with Emergency Relief or financial wellbeing funding/reporting processes.

Essential

- Client support experience- proven background supporting clients, ideally in financial wellbeing, community services, or crisis support.
- Understanding of financial hardship- awareness of social determinants and how they intersect with mental health and wellbeing.
- Strong interpersonal skills- able to engage respectfully, communicate clearly, and build trust with diverse clients.
- Assessment and referral capability- confident conducting assessments and coordinating referrals in community settings.
- Record-keeping proficiency- skilled in documentation, reporting, and digital case management systems.
- Regional travel readiness- holds a current driver’s licence and can travel across regional and remote communities.
- Safety and compliance checks- able to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check; holds a QLD C-class licence.

Successful applicants must be able to gain a National Coordinated Criminal History Check clearance prior to commencing.
