Senior Investment Accountant | Melbourne CBD | Permanent

My client, an ASX-listed alternative investment manager is looking to recruit a newly created, permanent Senior Investment Accountant opening.

The funds are diverse. It's a good fit if you like the less vanilla end of fund accounting and want to know how the investments actually work.

The job

During the month you'll look after investment operations, trades, treasury and valuations. At month-end you'll shadow the NAV work done by the external administrator, so you need to be confident checking someone else's numbers.
You'll also be the main contact for the administrator, custodians, banks and trading platforms, and you'll work directly with the Portfolio Managers and the CIO.

Day to day, that means:

- Monthly fund NAV valuations
- Reviewing monthly investor statements and annual investor tax statements
- Keeping investment accounting records for positions, fees and accruals
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Treasury for the funds,



including FX exposure and liquidity alongside the front office
- Collateral and margin calls
- OTC reporting on derivative trades where it applies
- Budgets, management reporting and variance commentary
- Leading the fund audits with the external auditors
- BAS and other tax compliance
- Helping Investor Relations with investor reporting
- Projects that come up along the way

What they're after
You'll need at least 4 years as a Fund Accountant in a funds management business, and you'll need to be good in Excel.

It's a bonus if you have derivatives experience and a CA or CPA.

Beyond that, they want someone organised, careful and comfortable with deadlines, who writes and speaks clearly and can work independently but is happy in a team. They'd also like to see someone who wants to grow into more responsibility over time.
