About the role
Killara Services is looking for a hands-on People & Culture Business Partner to provide dedicated P&C; support across the business and act as the first point of contact for managers and employees across all people matters.
This is a true HR generalist role, covering the full employee lifecycle. It is not solely an employee relations or strategic partnering position. You will work across everything from recruitment, contracts, onboarding, inductions and HR administration through to performance management, investigations, employee relations and industrial relations, Fair Work Commission matters, mobilisations and workforce change.
You will be equally comfortable supporting a complex employee matter or workplace investigation as you are posting a job advertisement, screening candidates, preparing a contract, onboarding a new starter or updating employee records in UKG.
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys variety, being close to the business and rolling up their sleeves to get things done.
It would particularly suit an experienced People & Culture Coordinator or Advisor ready to take the next step into a Business Partner role, gaining greater ownership and exposure to more complex P&C; matters while remaining hands-on across the day-to-day fundamentals of HR.
Key responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, screening, interviews, reference and compliance checks, offers,
contracts and pre-employment documentation.
- Coordinate onboarding, including new starter documentation, HRIS setup, inductions and site-readiness.
- Provide practical, timely P&C; advice to managers and employees as the first point of contact.
- Manage ER/IR matters, including performance, discipline, grievances, complaints, investigations, warnings and formal processes.
- Support Fair Work Commission matters, terminations and other complex employment issues, ensuring appropriate process, documentation and escalation.
- Prepare accurate P&C; documentation, including contracts, variations, performance and investigation correspondence, outcome letters and termination documents.
- Guide managers on the Fair Work Act, modern awards, enterprise agreements, policies and employment conditions, escalating interpretation or risk issues as needed.
- Manage employment compliance, including right-to-work, visa and pre-employment requirements.
- Partner with operations on mobilisations, demobilisations and workforce transitions, coordinating recruitment, onboarding, communications, consultation and related people activities.
- Coordinate training and development, including probation and 30/60/90-day check-ins.
- Support employee engagement and retention initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Conduct periodic remuneration benchmarking using agreed market data, industry benchmarks and remuneration frameworks.
- Develop and improve P&C; processes, SOPs, templates and workflows.
- Own day-to-day P&C; administration and readily assist with tasks of any size.
About you
You are a hands-on HR generalist who enjoys variety and wants broad exposure across People & Culture.
You may be an experienced P&C; Coordinator or Advisor ready to step up, or a Business Partner seeking greater ownership and closer connection to operations.
You understand that operational partnering means doing the work as well as providing advice.
You will ideally bring:
- Generalist P&C; experience across recruitment, onboarding, HR administration,
employee relations and performance management.
- Hands-on end-to-end recruitment and onboarding experience.
- Experience with investigations, disciplinary and performance processes, grievances and terminations.
- Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, modern awards and enterprise agreements, with sound judgement on risk and escalation.
- Strong written communication and the ability to prepare explicit, accurate employment documentation.
- Confident stakeholder management across operational leaders, managers and frontline employees.
- A practical, organised and solutions-focused approach, balancing complex employee matters with everyday administration.
- Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate, audit-ready HR records and HRIS data.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and own matters through to completion.
- A genuine roll-up-your-sleeves mindset across the full employee lifecycle.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Employment Relations or a related discipline.
- Experience with UKG or a comparable HRIS/workforce management platform.
- Experience in facilities management, cleaning, security or another multi-site, operational, award-covered workforce.
- Exposure to mobilisations, demobilisations, employee consultation or provider transitions.
- Exposure to Fair Work Commission matters or complex employee relations processes.
Why join Killara?
This is an opportunity to become a key People & Culture partner within Killara, working closely with operational leaders and employees and gaining exposure across the entire employee lifecycle.
You’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships across the business, take genuine ownership of P&C; delivery and broaden your experience across recruitment, ER/IR, investigations, workforce change, mobilisations, employee engagement and day-to-day HR operations.
For an experienced Coordinator or Advisor ready for their next step, it offers the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded Business Partner while remaining close to the operational and hands-on side of People & Culture.
