Casual Duty Manager | Nights & Weekends – Acacia Ridge Hotel

Acacia Ridge Hotel is looking for an experienced and hands‑on Casual Duty Manager to join our management team, with hours available predominantly across evenings, late nights and weekends.

Known locally as The Ridge, Acacia Ridge Hotel is a proud Brisbane local offering food and beverage, a large gaming room, TAB and Keno, motel accommodation and multiple function spaces.

But more importantly, we want to be the pub that feels like home.

We’re looking for a Duty Manager who understands that great hospitality starts with the team on the floor.

This isn't about sitting in an office and watching the night happen.

You’ll be right in the middle of it.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you will take ownership of the venue and team during your rostered shifts, working closely with our General Manager and broader leadership team.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing the overall operation of the venue while on shift
- Maintaining a strong and visible management presence on the floor
- Leading, motivating and supporting a fun and energetic team
- Coaching, training and mentoring staff to maintain standards and develop their skills
- Driving exceptional customer service across the venue
- Managing busy evening and late-night trade
- Supporting bar, gaming, TAB and Keno operations
- Managing customer concerns and incidents calmly and professionally
- Working closely with security during late-night trade
- Ensuring liquor, gaming, RSA/RSG and venue compliance requirements are followed
- Maintaining strong venue presentation, cleanliness and service standards




- Monitoring labour and making sensible staffing decisions based on trade
- Assisting with cash handling, reconciliations and closing procedures
- Supporting stock management and stocktake processes
- Communicating clearly with the management team at shift handover
- Being willing to jump in and help wherever the venue needs you

At The Ridge, our Duty Managers don't simply supervise a shift.

They set the tone for it.

About You

We're looking for someone who brings confidence, energy and genuine hospitality leadership.

Ideally, you will have:

- Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Supervisor or hospitality manager
- Strong food, beverage and gaming experience
- Confidence managing a busy licensed venue
- Positive knowledge of gaming, TAB and Keno
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- A passion for customer service
- High standards of presentation and attention to detail
- The ability to coach, train and professionally direct staff
- Strong time-management and organisational skills
- Confidence managing incidents and difficult situations
- An understanding of labour control and commercial venue operations
- The ability to think on your feet and adapt when trade changes
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a developing management team
- Functions, events or accommodation experience would be advantageous

Qualifications

You should hold the appropriate Queensland qualifications relevant to the role, including:

- Current RSA
- Current RSG
- RMLV




- Approved Manager
- CLO
- Current First Aid highly regarded

Availability

This is a casual position with hours available, particularly across:

- Evening shifts
- Late-night trade
- Friday and Saturday nights
- Weekends
- Public holidays and peak trading periods

You need to be genuinely comfortable with late finishes.

We want to be upfront about the hours because we're looking for somebody whose availability actually matches the role and who enjoys the energy of nighttime hospitality.
