We are looking for an experienced, licensed electrician with aCertificate IV in Work Health & Safetywho can take responsibility for the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of our WHSE systems while remaining actively involved in electrical work across the business.

This is a deliberatelyhands-on WHSE role.

As a business of our size, managing WHSE doesn't require someone sitting behind a desk five days a week. We want someone who can ensure our systems, procedures and compliance requirements are properly managed, then get out into the workplace, work alongside our people and help make sure good safety practices actually translate into the way work gets done.

When WHSE responsibilities allow, you will work on the tools alongside our electrical and production teams, using your trade experience to support our projects and help mentor apprentices and developing tradespeople insafe, efficient and professional work practices.

What you will do

Your role will combine three key areas, WHSE management, electrical trade work and workforce development.

You will take responsibility for the practical management of BMI's WHSE function, including maintaining and improving our WHSE systems; reviewing and developing SWMS, risk assessments and safe work procedures; conducting workplace inspections and audits; supporting incident and near-miss investigations; monitoring training, licences and competencies; providing practical WHSE advice to management and employees; and helping ensure our systems remain compliant, current and,



most importantly - relevant to the people actually doing the work.

You will also remainhands-on as an electrician, working across our commercial projects, factory and other areas of the business as required. Depending on current projects, this could include commercial electrical installations, switchboard manufacture and installation, mechanical electrical works, PLC and industrial control systems, testing and commissioning, and major infrastructure projects.

A significant part of the role will also beworking alongside and mentoring our apprentices and junior employees. We want someone who can pass on years of practical experience, not just how to perform a task, but how to plan the work, identify the risks, use tools correctly, maintain quality, solve problems and develop the work habits expected of a skilled tradesperson.

What we are looking for

This isn't an entry-level safety position. We're looking for someone with enough electrical and industry experience to have genuine credibility with the people they will be supporting.

You will need:

Certificate IV in Work Health & Safetyor higher

Substantial practical experience as an electrician, preferably within commercial, industrial, mechanical electrical or electrical manufacturing environments

Practical knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, SWMS, safe work procedures, incident management and workplace inspections

Experience implementing,



maintaining or improving WHSE systems within an operational environment

The ability to coach and mentor apprentices and developing tradespeople

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively from the workshop and worksite through to senior management

Experience inincident investigation, internal auditing, quality systems or formal training/assessmentwould be highly regarded.
