In Tasmania, we focus on producing hybrid carrot, beet, and brassica seeds with a dedicated team of 50 employees across all departments.
Located just 30 minutes from Launceston at our Cressy farm, you will play a crucial role in supporting various farm activities.
What you'll be doing:
- Operate and maintain farming equipment including tractors, ATV, spray equipment and various implements.
- Carry out spraying with Garford inter-row and shielded sprayers, ensuring applications are made under the correct atmospheric conditions.
- Perform tasks such as seeding, fertiliser application, trimming/slashing, drain spinning and ground preparation.
- Conduct general maintenance of farm machinery including pre-starts.
- Plan and manage field activities and seed cleaning processes efficiently, ensuring high-quality standards and taking a hands-on approach when needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Work independently and as part of multiple teams, including crop production and seed cleaning.
- Show flexibility and a willingness to work beyond regular hours when required.
- Work with our rogueing team to manually hoe and or spot spray weeds. Weed identification skills are desirable.
- Maintaining chemical shed cleanliness and inventory records.
What we're looking for:
- Robust attention to detail in all farming operations.
- An aptitude for keeping accurate written records, particularly relating to chemical usage, spray areas, and weather conditions.
- A proactive approach to workplace health and safety, and a willingness to comply with legislative requirements including chemical handling and PPE.
- Experience in bed formed and strip till cropping production, including operating related equipment.
- Proficiency in operating farm machinery, with skills in GPS-controlled technology.
- ChemCert certification is a must (or willingness to obtain).
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency, a valid Australian driver’s licence, and preferably an MR truck licence and Forklift High Risk Work Licence (HRWL).
- Competency in Microsoft Office and app-based task management.
