About the role
Halcyon Proteins manufactures a range of liquid and powder specialty food ingredients for the local and export markets. An Australian owned and operated company since 1946 we are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team within a busy food-processing facility. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving production equipment and associated plant to ensure reliable and effective operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on fitter who enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance and working in a fast-paced production environment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance on food-processing equipment.
- Diagnose faults to minimise production downtime.
- Repair, modify and install machinery and associated equipment.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and maintenance records.
- Work closely with production staff to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and workshop organisation.
- Follow all workplace health, safety, food safety and hygiene requirements.
About you
- Trade qualification as a Fitter and Machinist / Cert III Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
- Previous maintenance experience in a food-processing or manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Restricted Electrical License Class highly regarded.
- Welding and fabrication skills desirable.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
