About the role

Calder Care Services are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Domestic Cleaners and PCA's to join our team to support participants in various locations of Melbourne's western suburbs. In this casual role, you will play a vital part in providing personalised care and support to individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions, empowering them to live independently and actively participate in their communities.

Majority of participants currently needing assistance are based in the following areas: Melton, Altona Meadows and Gisborne.

What you'll be doing

- Assist clients with daily living activities such as; personal care tasks. This will include - shower assistance, toileting and general hygiene help. PCA's eligible for this role must hold either of the following qualifications: Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (CHC33021) AND/OR Certificate IV in Home and Community Care (CHC43015).

- Support clients with access to community, transport assistance and aid with domestic household tasks such as general household cleaning. All staff will be provided with cleaning equipment.

- Provide emotional support and build positive/professional relationships with clients

- Facilitate social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote client wellbeing

- Advocate for client needs and liaise with healthcare professionals and support networks

- Maintain accurate client records and documentation including the completion of shift noting after each concluded shift.

- Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and safety standards

What we're looking for

- Experience in mental health, disability, or aged care support work - desired, although not mandatory.

- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must speak and understand clear English.

- Ability to focus on the specific needs, goals, or issues towards a single individual/participant (1:1 support)

- The ability to support the operational scheduling needs of the business.



We expect our staff to be able to accommodate for all client needs. Therefore, our staff need to be able to work a domestic cleaning shift if rostered as not all rostered shifts are purely support work focused.

- Flexible availability to suit clients needs (we are also very flexible with work life balance and staff commitments, although expect consistency with availability)

- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature

- Relevant qualifications are desired, such as a Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (CHC33021), Certificate IV in Home and Community Care (CHC43015), Certificate IV in Mental Health (CHC43315), Diploma of Mental Health (CHC53315) or equivalent

- Must hold a valid driver's license and access to a reliable & insured vehicle

- Must hold a current NDIS Workers Screening Check

- Must hold a valid Victorian Police Check (will accept validity within past 3 years)

- Must hold a valid Working with Children's check (employment type)

- Current First Aid and CPR certification
