For more than 30 years, we've delivered advocacy, information and education services that empower people to understand their rights and make informed decisions.

Our Aged Care Advocacy Services team works alongside older people, families and communities to ensure rights are upheld, concerns are addressed and people are supported to navigate complex systems with confidence.

About the Prospect

We're seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advocate to provide information, education, advocacy support and representation to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing or seeking aged care services.

This is an Identified Position. ADA Australia considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

We welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time employment or, for the right candidate, a part-time arrangement.

This diverse role combines advocacy, community engagement and relationship building. You'll work alongside older people, families and communities to support clients to understand their rights, access services and achieve positive outcomes.

In this role, you will:

- Deliver advocacy, information and support
- Help clients understand their rights and access aged care services
- Build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations
- Facilitate community education and outreach activities
- Represent ADA Australia at community events and forums




- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality outcomes

About You

You're passionate about supporting older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and creating positive outcomes in community.

You will bring:

- Qualifications in human services, social work, community services and/or equivalent experience
- Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities
- Knowledge of aged care services and supports (or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge)
- Strong communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills
- Strong cultural knowledge and experience building trusted community relationships
- Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to work independently
- Strong administrative and computer skills, including experience using client management systems

Essential Requirements

- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Current National Criminal History Certificate
