Velocity Legal is looking for a Law Graduate to join our Employment Team.

You will work directly with our team on real matters involving employment advice, workplace disputes, employment contracts, workplace investigations and termination of employment.

You will help clients navigate workplace challenges and understand their options. You will develop skills across advisory work and disputes while learning to balance legal obligations with commercial priorities and the human side of workplace issues.

You will learn how to think carefully, write clearly and give practical advice. For the right graduate, this role offers an opportunity to build specialist expertise early.

The Role

You will work full time from our Melbourne CBD office.
conducting legal research on employment and workplace relations issues;
preparing draft advice, correspondence and file notes;
assisting with employment contracts, workplace policies and settlement documents;
researching modern award coverage and employment entitlements;
assisting with advice on performance management, disciplinary processes and termination of employment;
supporting workplace investigations and helping the team address sensitive employee complaints;
assisting with unfair dismissal, general protections and underpayment disputes;




preparing chronologies, evidence, tribunal and court documents and briefs to counsel;
attending client conferences, conciliations, mediations and hearings where appropriate;
assisting with fee estimates, client onboarding and file management; and
supporting the team with the day-to-day conduct of client matters.

You will receive direct feedback, proper supervision and exposure to high-quality work from the start.

Required Attributes
A completed law degree (LLB or JD).
Solid academic results. Ideally, 70%+ academic average for law subjects.
A genuine interest in employment law and workplace relations.
Sound judgment, maturity and empathy when dealing with sensitive workplace issues.
