What you'll be doing
Diagnosing and troubleshooting automatic transmission issues using diagnostic equipment and technical expertise
Performing routine maintenance and servicing on automatic transmissions, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and adjustments
Disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling transmission components with precision and attention to detail
Testing and verifying transmission functionality post-repair to ensure proper operation and performance
Communicating findings and repair recommendations to customers and management in a clear and professional manner
Maintaining accurate records of all work performed, including labour time, parts used, and technical notes
Adhering to all workplace safety standards, health and safety regulations, and best practices in automotive repair




Collaborating with other workshop team members to support efficient workflow and quality outcomes
Keeping abreast of recent transmission technologies, repair procedures, and industry developments relevant to the automotive sector
What we're looking for
Recognised qualification in automotive mechanics or transmission repair (such as a Certificate III or IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology, or equivalent trade qualification)
Proven experience of at least 3-5 years working as an automatic transmission specialist or motor mechanic with a focus on transmission systems
Strong technical knowledge of automatic transmission operation, diagnosis, and repair procedures across various vehicle makes and models
Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems
Current or ability to obtain relevant trade licences and certifications required in New South Wales
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex transmission faults systematically
High level of mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety protocols
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers in a customer-friendly manner
