About the opportunity
NSW Health Pathology Haematology at Prince of Wales Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated scientist to join our friendly team as a temporary Senior Scientist in Charge of Coagulation. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your expertise in coagulation testing, work alongside experienced professionals, and make a meaningful contribution to patient care. Prince of Wales Hospital is located within the Prince of Wales hospital with public transport available direct to the hospital by bus or light rail from Central Station and is in close proximity to many cafes/restaurants and UNSW which has a gym, library and swimming pool.
What you'll be doing
Responsible for the management of scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities and logistics for the assigned laboratory. The position oversees the quality, cost and operational integrity of the department, regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services in the department, human resource, business and resource management.

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.
Extensive high-level knowledge ofCoagulation and Special Haemostasis including operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in a pathology laboratory
Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
Demonstrated experience in senior scientist duties such as managerial skills, motivating a team, implementing work improvements, budgeting, training, and assessing staff competency
Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards, legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements
