n About the Role
n We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to repair, recondition, assemble, and test heavy vehicle power steering gearboxes and related steering components. The successful candidate will work with a range of heavy vehicle steering systems and ensure all repairs meet required quality, safety, and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Diagnose, dismantle, repair, and recondition heavy vehicle power steering gearboxes.
n
Inspect steering components for wear, damage, and serviceability.
n
Repair and assemble steering gearboxes according to technical specifications and torque requirements.
n
Work with steering systems including TRW TAS65/TAS85, Ross THP series, Sheppard, ZF Servocom, Scania, Isuzu, Kenworth, and Mack.
n
Perform hydraulic bench testing to check steering operation, pressure, and internal/external leaks.
n
Replace and service steering shafts, universal joints, and related components.
n
Conduct final inspections and quality checks before completed units are released.
n




Maintain accurate repair, testing, and service records.
n
Follow company quality procedures and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
n
Ensure all work meets customer specifications and workshop standards.

About you
n
n
Previous experience as a Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or in a similar role.
n
Demonstrated experience repairing and reconditioning heavy vehicle steering gearboxes.
n
Knowledge of hydraulic steering systems and steering components.
n
Ability to disassemble, inspect, repair, and accurately reassemble steering gearboxes.
n
Experience with hydraulic testing and fault diagnosis.
n
Robust attention to detail and commitment to quality.
n
Ability to follow technical instructions, specifications, and safety procedures.
n
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent practical industry experience is preferred.
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team.
n
n
Salary Negotiable depending on experience + 12% Super + Tool Allowance.
