We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with Data Domain background to provide strategic architectural leadership across a major federal government agency's complex data environment.
n
This is a senior, EL2-equivalent opportunity within a Federal Government Enterprise Architecture practice. The organisation is moving from a large monolithic environment towards best-of-breed platforms, creating important architecture decisions about authoritative sources of truth, reference data, information flows, interoperability and cross-system dependencies.
n
This is not primarily a Data Modeller, Data Engineer, governance specialist or single-platform Solution Architect position. We are looking for a broad Enterprise Architect who can bring genuine data-domain depth while working consultatively across executives, program leaders, architects and delivery teams.

Locations: Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide

Hybrid working, with a minimum of three days per week in the office
n
37.5 hours per week

What you will do
n
n
Shape enterprise architecture across multiple systems, programs and technology investments
n
Develop and communicate target-state architecture and practical transition roadmaps
n




Guide the transition from a monolithic environment towards best-of-breed platforms
n
Help determine authoritative sources of truth and how information should move across systems
n
Resolve reference-data, interoperability and cross-system architecture issues
n
Identify dependencies, risks, sequencing considerations and opportunities for reuse
n
Engage early with project teams to shape direction before decisions reach formal governance
n
Translate complex architecture issues into clear business advice for senior leaders and executives
n
Influence program direction and architecture decisions without relying on formal authority
n
Work strategically across several concurrent transformation initiatives while remaining connected to delivery teams
n
Collaborate with enterprise, solution, security and data architects, engineers, business stakeholders and vendors
n
Provide architecture assurance, guidance and mentoring across the organisation
n

What you will bring
n
You will need to demonstrate:
n
n
At least eight years of experience designing and delivering complex enterprise data initiatives and solutions
n
At least three years in a Principal Architect, Enterprise Architect, Domain Architect or comparable senior role
n
Broad Enterprise Architecture capability across multiple systems,



programs and investments
n
Strong data-domain expertise, including sources of truth, reference data, MDM, RDM, information flows, data modelling and data security
n
Experience developing target states, transition roadmaps, architecture principles, patterns, standards and guardrails
n
A record of working across large, complex transformation programs
n
Strong internal consulting skills, including the ability to diagnose ambiguity and shape direction early
n
Evidence of influencing executives, peers and delivery teams without direct authority
n
The ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to business and executive audiences
n
Experience balancing strategic direction with practical delivery needs across concurrent workstreams
n
A collaborative working style and comfort operating in a changing environment where structures and processes are still developing
n

Highly regarded experience includes:
n
n
Existing Baseline or NV1 security clearance
n
Experience in government, financial services, health or another large, regulated setting
n
Formal Enterprise Architecture certification, such as TOGAF
n
Advanced AWS or Azure architecture certification
n
Major cloud or enterprise transformation experience
n
Relevant tertiary qualifications in technology, information systems, architecture or a related discipline
n
Government experience is helpful but not mandatory. Relevant experience from complex commercial environments will be considered where you can demonstrate strong Enterprise Architecture, data-domain and stakeholder-influence capability.
