NextGen Jobs are currently seeking a Parks and Gardens Apprentice to join a Victorian City Council.
Your Parks and Gardens Apprenticeship at a glance:
Where: Croydon, VIC
Team: Supportive work culture with apprentices and supervisors all working towards the same goal
Length: 3-years, earning while you learn
Study: Certificate III in Parks and Gardens through TAFE, fees covered
Hours: Full-Time, 9-day Fortnight working weekdays 7:30am-4:30pm
What You'll Actually Be Doing:
Support the maintenance and presentation of parks, reserves, waterways, open spaces and other Council-managed areas across the municipality
Weeding, herbicide application, brush-cutting, mowing, mulching, pruning, path and fencing repairs, nursery operations and other general horticultural maintenance activities
Regularly inspect Council parks, reserves and open space areas to identify maintenance requirements, hazards, damage or deterioration, and promptly report issues including unsafe or damaged park fixtures, infrastructure and amenities
Accurately complete daily timesheets, maintenance requests, work records and quality management documentation in accordance with Council procedures and requirements
Participate in relevant training, development activities and apprenticeship programs to build horticultural knowledge, practical skills and workplace capability in line with apprenticeship requirements
Safely operate,



maintain and care for Council vehicles, plant, tools and equipment, ensuring they are used in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements, operating procedures and relevant standards
