We're now looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter, dual-tradesperson or industrial electrician to join our Hallam team on permanent day shift.
About the Role
This is a hands‐on role with a real impact on the day‐to‐day performance of our manufacturing site.
You'll help keep our plant and production equipment safe, reliable and running at its best by completing planned maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance.
Working closely with our Maintenance and Operations teams, you'll play an important role in reducing downtime while supporting a safe, effective and high‐quality food manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing




Maintenance and Breakdowns
Complete planned, preventative and routine maintenance across production machinery, plant and ancillary equipment
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions
Carry out emergency repairs to minimise production downtime
Diagnose faults and complete root‐cause investigations
Install and commission new machinery, equipment and mechanical services
Undertake fabrication, welding, grinding, drilling and machining where qualified and required
Electrical and Automation
For dual‐trade candidates or qualified electricians:
Diagnose and repair electrical faults using drawings, test equipment and technical manuals
Maintain motors, drives, sensors, control panels, switchboards and field devices
Troubleshoot automated production machinery, PLC‐related faults and variable‐speed drives
Assist with control‐panel, machine‐wiring and process modifications
Reliability and Continuous Improvement
Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend practical, long‐term solutions
Support continuous improvement initiatives across equipment reliability, performance and safety
Assist with planning and scoping maintenance work
Work with Engineering, Production and Technical teams to improve equipment operation
Safety and Systems
Follow Yumi's safety and quality procedures and relevant Australian standards
Participate in risk assessments, permit‐to‐work and lock‐out/tag‐out processes
Accurately record maintenance work, inspections and parts usage in the MEX maintenance system

About You
You're a capable,



hands‐on tradesperson who takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and reliably. You're calm under pressure, practical in your approach and comfortable working as part of a close‐knit team in a fast‐moving production environment.
To be successful, you'll bring:
A Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner trade qualification
At least five years' mechanical maintenance experience, ideally within food, FMCG or manufacturing
Solid fault‐finding and problem‐solving skills
Experience with production machinery in a continuous or batch‐processing environment
Knowledge of pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, conveyors and rotating equipment
The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team‐focused approach
Highly Regarded
A current A Grade Electrical Licence with industrial experience
Dual mechanical and electrical trade qualifications
Welding and fabrication skills
Experience using a computerised maintenance management system, particularly MEX [Yumi's Mai...r Aug **** | Word]
