Job Description
The North Queensland Region is seeking expressions of interest from eligible teachers to join the **** District Relief Teacher (DRT) Pool. As a DRT, you will be attached to a Base School and provide daily and short-term relief, including covering unexpected staff absences, across schools within your nominated geographic area. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a range of school communities, build qualified networks and gain experience across different educational settings throughout the region.

**** North Queensland District Relief Teacher – Expression of Interest
n
Are you an experienced teacher looking for a diverse and rewarding chance in North Queensland?
n
As a District Relief Teacher (DRT), you will bring highly developed behaviour management capabilities, flexibility and the capacity to support teaching and learning across multi-year-level classes. You will be attached to a Base School while providing relief, including covering unexpected staff absences, across schools within your nominated geographic area.
n

Why become a District Relief Teacher in North Queensland?
n
DRTs provide relief for staff who are absent from school,
ranging from daily relief through to longer-term placements. DRT roles are for a maximum of 12 months, with full-time arrangements preferred. Part-time arrangements may be negotiated upon application.
n
DRTs retain the same conditions of employment and entitlements as classroom teachers.
n
As a DRT, you will:
n
n
Be attached to a nominated Base School and provide relief at Host/Cluster Schools as required
n
Provide daily and longer-term relief across a range of school settings
n
Report to the Base School Principal, who will provide support and professional development and manage leave and other employment matters
n
Have access to your entitled Non-Contact Time (NCT) and undertake a reasonable amount of playground duty
n
Report to your Base School when not booked at a Host School and undertake duties allocated by the Base School
n
n
The DRT pool is managed through ClassCover to coordinate relief requirements across the identified geographic area.

Opportunities are available across Primary, Secondary, Primary/Secondary and Special Education settings, as well as Cleveland Education and Training Centre.

School allocations may change in response to workforce requirements.

What You'll Need
n
To be considered, you must:
n
n
Hold a relevant teaching qualification
n
Hold full or provisional Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration, or be eligible to obtain registration
n
Have Australian working rights or hold a valid visa
n
Hold a current driver's licence
n
Ideally, have a minimum of 12 months' teaching experience
n
Be able and willing to travel within your nominated geographic area
n
Be able to teach within your nominated school type and subject areas, where applicable
n
For current Queensland Department of Education employees, have the support and endorsement of your current Base School Principal
n
n
Current departmental employees must demonstrate satisfactory performance and conduct and may be subject to relevant departmental suitability and employment checks.
