Philanthropy Campaign Director
to join the
Public Affairs team
at Burnet!
The Philanthropy Campaign Director is a critical strategic leadership role established to build the long-term philanthropic capacity needed to deliver on Burnet Institute's purpose. Reporting to the Executive GM Philanthropy & Supporter Engagement, you will lead the design and delivery of Burnet's comprehensive fundraising campaigns and drive new philanthropic growth through principal and major gift relationships with national and international supporters.
In this role, you will hold a personal portfolio of principal gift prospects while leading the Campaign and Principal Gifts team to build a sustainable philanthropy pipeline, secure new transformational gifts and deliver ambitious campaign targets aligned to the Burnet **** Strategy.
You will also:
Lead the development and execution of Burnet's comprehensive campaign plan, including campaign phases, targets, key milestones, deliverables and budget.
Personally manage a portfolio of principal and lead gift prospects, leading their identification, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation and stewardship.
Drive the identification and engagement of new high-value donors across national and international markets and strengthen Burnet's philanthropy pipeline.
Build and support campaign volunteer leadership and work closely with the CEO, Board, Executive, researchers and senior leaders to enable effective donor engagement and solicitation.
Lead, develop and coach the Campaign and Principal Gifts team, fostering a high-performance and outcomes-focused culture.

Let's talk about you
The following criteria are essential requirements:
Principal and major gift success:
Proven success in developing new business and building a strong pipeline that has secured principal and major gifts.
Campaign leadership:
A strategic thinker with proven experience leading and project managing fundraising campaigns or equivalent growth initiatives.
Team leadership:
Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.




Experience in complex or matrixed organisations:
Demonstrated experience building alignment across senior leaders, specialist teams and operational functions to progress priorities and achieve campaign outcomes.
Relationship building and senior stakeholder influence:
Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, influence effectively and operate with credibility at senior levels, including with donors, executives and partners.
Volunteer and executive engagement:
Demonstrated experience recruiting, briefing and supporting senior volunteers, Board members and executives in solicitation roles.
CRM, financial management and forecasting capability:
Demonstrated ability to use CRM data and reporting to maintain accurate pipeline information, produce reliable revenue forecasts, and manage campaign budgets and financial performance against targets.
