Job Description
I'm recruiting for a well-established building consultancy looking for a Junior DDA / Accessibility Consultant to join their Sydney team.

You don't need previous DDA experience. If you can read architectural drawings, understand the NCC/BCA and have a good understanding of Australian Standards, you'll be given the training and mentoring to develop into a specialist accessibility consultant.

The role:
n
Working alongside experienced consultants, you'll learn how to review architectural drawings, identify accessibility issues and provide practical solutions that meet the relevant requirements without unnecessarily compromising the design.
n
You'll be involved in:
n
n
Reviewing architectural drawings and documentation
n
Assessing buildings against NCC, DDA and relevant Australian Standards
n
Identifying and resolving accessibility and compliance issues
n
Preparing technical reports and advice
n
Working with architects, builders and developers
n
Attending project meetings and site inspections
n
Gradually taking responsibility for your own projects
n
n
As your knowledge and confidence develop, you'll take on more responsibility and have the opportunity to build a long-term career in a specialist area of the construction industry.

A related technical/design role

You don't need to tick every box. I'm more interested in someone who is technically minded,



enjoys solving problems and genuinely wants to learn.

You'll ideally have:
n
n
Experience reading and understanding architectural drawings
n
Exposure to the NCC/BCA and Australian Standards
n
Strong attention to detail
n
Good written and verbal communication skills
n
An interest in buildings, design and compliance
n
The confidence to work with architects, builders and other construction professionals
n
n
A degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Building, Design or a related discipline would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
