Soul Surfing is seeking an experienced
Head Surf Coach / Assistant Manager
to join our team in Port Macquarie, NSW. This is a
part-time position
******hrs) that combines hands-on coaching excellence with operational leadership responsibilities. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality surf instruction whilst supporting the management and growth of our coaching programmes. You will work both in the water and in an administrative capacity, ensuring our surfers receive world-class tuition and our business operates smoothly. This position offers the perfect opportunity for a passionate surfer and educator who thrives in a dynamic, coastal environment.
Key responsibilities
Lead, deliver and develop engaging surf coaching sessions and programmes for clients of all skill levels, from beginners through to advanced surfers
Maintain the highest standards of water safety, including risk assessments, emergency protocols and participant supervision
Support the management of coaching schedules, bookings and client communications
Assist in training and mentoring junior coaches
Monitor and assist to maintain all coaching equipment and facilities to ensure they meet safety and operational standards
Contribute to the development of marketing materials and promotional activities to attract new clients
Support administrative duties including record-keeping, invoicing and reporting on coaching metrics
What we're looking for
Experience as a surf coach with a proven track record of developing surfers across multiple ability levels
Recognised coaching qualifications, such as ASI, Surfing Australia Level 1 or equivalent international certification
Strong leadership abilities with experience supervising or mentoring coaching staff
First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain these qualifications)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible and motivating manner




Demonstrated commitment to water safety and risk management in a coastal environment
Experience in scheduling, client management and basic administrative tasks
Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple coaching sessions and responsibilities
Passion for surfing and a genuine enthusiasm for developing others' skills and confidence in the water
Flexibility to work variable hours, including weekends and school holiday periods
Desirable: experience in coaching programme development, business operations, or sports management
A desire to exhibit the health and wellbeing ethos that Soul Surfing holds

Our part time structure allows flexibility to balance professional coaching with personal pursuits. You can expect an average of between 2-6hrs per day, up to 6 days/week.
