An established and growing Brisbane construction business is looking for an Accounts Officer to join its finance team based in Fortitude Valley.
n
This is a hands‐on role covering both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work and wants to become an important part of a busy, project‐driven business.
n
You'll also work closely with an existing offshore accounts assistant, so we're looking for someone who has enough experience to coordinate workload, delegate tasks and ensure the day-to‐day accounts function stays on track.
n
You don't need to be a qualified Accountant. We're looking for someone with a good grounding in transactional finance who is organised, accurate and confident working autonomously.

The Role Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Managing day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
n
Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices
n
Raising invoices and maintaining accurate customer accounts
n
Managing debtor follow-up and outstanding accounts
n
Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
n
Assisting with bank and account reconciliations
n
Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams
n
Responding to account and payment queries
n
Coordinating workload with an offshore accounts assistant
n
Reviewing and following up outstanding finance tasks
n
Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
n
Assisting with general finance administration and reporting
n
Providing broader support to the finance team as required
n

About You
n
We're looking for someone who has already developed a solid understanding of AP and AR and is ready to take a little more ownership in their next role.
n
Ideally, you'll have:
n
n
Previous experience as an Accounts Officer, Finance Officer, Accounts Administrator, AP Officer, AR Officer or similar
n
Practical experience across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
n
Strong reconciliation and problem‐solving skills
n
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy li>
n
Confidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders
n
The ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
n
A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership
n
Some experience coordinating, delegating or reviewing the work of others
n
Strong general systems and computer skills
n
n
Experience within construction, property, development, engineering or another project‐based environment would be highly regarded.
n
Previous exposure to MYOB and/or Jobpac would also be advantageous, although this isn't essential for the right person.
n
