A permanent small animal veterinarian is sought to join a supportive practice in Melbourne's north-west, with the flexibility to work either part-time or full-time. With a minimum of 24 hours per week and a roster that can be tailored to suit the successful applicant, this role could suit a vet looking for greater control over their working week and a genuine focus on work-life balance.
The practice has been caring for animals in the local community since **** and sees a variety of pets, including cats, dogs, birds and reptiles. There is a strong emphasis on preventive medicine, with facilities including a full IDEXX in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and dedicated surgery and dental facilities.
The successful applicant will work alongside an experienced Lead Vet and five caring and capable vet nurses. The team places a solid emphasis on supporting one another, encouraging professional development and maintaining a healthy balance between work and life.
There is considerable flexibility around how the working week is structured. Depending on individual preference, this could include four longer days with a three-day weekend or five shorter days. The position includes rotating Saturdays. The Lead Vet will generally provide support, although Saturday shifts involve sole charge responsibilities. These shifts are limited to routine consultations, with emergencies able to be referred externally.
The employer is ideally seeking a veterinarian with at least one year of experience, although there is flexibility for the right person. Applicants should be confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills and be calm, compassionate, organised and proactive in their approach.



A Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent qualification is required, along with registration or eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria.
