Your recent role: The position is responsible for providing comprehensive specialist surgical services to the Hepatobiliary (HPB) and Liver Transplant Units at Princess Alexandra Hospital. This includes the assessment, operative management and ongoing care of patients requiring complex hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgery across both elective and emergency settings.
About You
The successful applicant will participate in the specialist on-call roster, providing timely and expert clinical management for deceased donor organ retrievals and liver transplant recipient operations. The role also encompasses the peri-operative and post-operative management of both adult and paediatric liver transplant recipients, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care throughout the transplant journey.
The position will play an integral role in the management and further development of the donor liver machine perfusion program, including Hypothermic Oxygenate Perfusion (HOPE), Normothermic Machine Perfusion (NMP) and Normothermic regional Perfusion (NRP). Knowledge and experience in the management of machine perfusion and assessment of liver viability and allocation, while ensuring adherence to established clinical, ethical and governance frameworks, is required.
