Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Learning Middle School will provide strategic and operational leadership of teaching and learning across Years 5-8, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About the Role
n
The Head of Learning Middle School plays a critical role in leading curriculum, assessment, feedback, professional learning and student academic growth throughout the Middle School. The position is a 3-year contract, with ongoing tenure at the College as a teacher.
n
You will work closely with the Head of Middle School, Academic Executive, Heads of Faculty and teaching teams to drive high-quality learning experiences and strengthen a culture of evidence-informed practice.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead and promote a culture of academic excellence, high expectations and continuous improvement across the Middle School.
n
Drive strategic initiatives in curriculum,



pedagogy, assessment and student learning growth across Years 5-8.
n
Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, review, mapping and reporting to ensure alignment with the Victorian Curriculum and College priorities.
n
Lead the effective use of assessment, feedback and student achievement data to improve learning outcomes and monitor student progress.
n
Manage Middle School curriculum and assessment processes, including reporting and Compass administration.
n
Coordinate and oversee standardised assessment programs, including NAPLAN, PAT, ICAS and other relevant testing.
n
Build teacher capability through instructional coaching, mentoring, professional learning and evidence-based teaching practices.
n
Support the implementation of contemporary learning approaches.
n
Lead, develop and support faculty heads, coordinators and year-level leaders to achieve strategic and operational goals.
n
Foster a collaborative professional learning culture that strengthens collective efficacy and staff engagement.
n
Contribute to College-wide strategic planning, innovation, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
Work collaboratively with academic and operational leaders to ensure seamless student transitions and a consistent learning experience across the College.
