The Role:
Due to a recent acquisition, this well-known retail business is seeking an experienced
Payroll Specialist
to join the team on an initial 12-month contract. You will play a key role in keeping payroll operations running smoothly throughout an significant period of transition and change.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical payroll knowledge, with responsibility across superannuation, STP, payroll tax and payroll accounting. You will work closely with Finance, P&C; and external bodies including the ATO to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and reconcile superannuation payments and STP submissions




Prepare and lodge payroll tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
Validate payroll GL reports and complete balance sheet reconciliations
Reconcile payroll and finance system interfaces
Investigate and resolve payroll reporting discrepancies
Support month-end and year-end payroll accounting
Assist with payroll process improvements throughout the transition
To be considered, you will have:
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including Super Guarantee, STP and payroll tax
Hands-on experience with SAP HR/Payroll or a similar large payroll system
Strong GL and balance sheet reconciliation experience
Advanced Excel skills with a strong analytical mindset
Experience interpreting awards and enterprise agreements
A relevant payroll or accounting qualification would be advantageous
