About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader – Finance to join our team at Mount Druitt.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Finance team and play an important role in ensuring GWAHS maintains accurate, compliant and timely financial processes and reporting.

This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility across financial operations, budgeting, reporting, compliance, audit preparation, internal controls and team supervision. You will also work closely with Managers, Program Leaders and Executives to provide practical financial advice and support effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and oversee day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, corporate credit cards and bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate month-end processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Lead and support annual budgeting, budget monitoring and financial management of grants and programs.
- Support funding submissions, acquittals and financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, procurement requirements, ATO obligations, financial delegations and organisational policies.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audit preparation and implementation of corrective actions.




- Review and improve finance systems, processes, workflows and internal controls.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, coaching and workload management for Finance team members.
- Build financial capability across GWAHS by providing guidance to Managers, Program Leaders and staff.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to support strong financial governance and effective service delivery.

Essential Criteria

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related field.
- CPA certification or working towards CPA certification.
- Relevant experience in financial operations, preferably within community health, not-for-profit or government-funded environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading and supporting a small finance team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and finance systems such as MYOB, Xero and/or Employment Hero.
- Knowledge of funding contracts, financial compliance and acquittal requirements.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, history and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people and communities.
- Experience engaging effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal communities.
- A commitment to ongoing career development.
- Current NSW Driver Licence
- Current Working with Children Check
- National Police Check
